Cheryl Workman Narrowly Escapes Death When She Falls in Bathing Pool Hurricane, Utah ---

Cheryl Workman, 7 -year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Workman, escaped death by a small margin Friday when she fell Into the Sulphur Springs bathing pool at LaVerkin. Mr. and Mrs. Workman have been making daily trips to the pools with Mrs. Millsap, an invalid, who is bathing for her health. As they carried the lady to the small bathing pools situated several yards from the large swimming pool, they instructed Cheryl to get some drinking water from a nose lying near the pool. The end of the hose, having fallen inside the pool, necessitated leaning forward to pick it up. Overbalancing as she did so, Cheryl fell in. She was unable to swim and no one was near enough to hear her calls for help. A few seconds later her father came inside the building, but was unaware of his daughter’s plight until her apparently lifeless body rose to the surface of the pool. Respiration treatment administered by her parents and Mrs. Morris Wilson, caretaker of the pool, brought the child to consciousness and Doctor McIntire arrived to treat her for shock. She is confined to her bed for a few days until all danger of pneumonia is removed. Doctor McIntire stated, “This accident stresses the neceess1ty of all people being taught to swim early in life”.
